Following the second annual Cambridgeshire Digital Awards on 24 November, we spoke to Emily, founder of lifestyle blog Musings & More, who won Gold on her CDA debut in the Blog: Entertainment category.
Could you tell us a little about your organisation?
Musings & More is a lifestyle blog I created in 2015. It provides a corner of the internet that features posts on a range of subjects including beauty, baking, travel and more and is there to provide my readers to enjoy a bit of light entertainment.
What made you get involved in the CDAs?
I remember hovering over the page for a while before I actually submitted my application but essentially it was a bit of a dare for myself because I can be a bit of a pessimist. “Do it! Enter! What’s the worst that could happen?” And look what did happen!
What does winning gold at the CDAs mean to your organisation?
It’s huge for me, especially given that my blog is fairly small. It’s given me such a boost of confidence for Musings & More and I’ve been inundated with supportive tweets and emails after it was announced I’d won which is the best thing.
Where will you be putting your award?
It’s going straight on the wall – and not in the bathroom either!
What was your most memorable moment from the CDA presentation evening?
Where do I start? I genuinely didn’t expect to even place bronze or silver so to come away with gold was staggering for me. Right from shakily making my way up the stage, everything was a blur and I was in shock for the rest of the evening. Not to mention to top off an already incredible night, I went and won an Apple TV for the selfie competition!
What’s the best thing about the Cambridgeshire business community?
Everyone is so passionate and so hardworking, you can tell they really care about what they are doing and I think that goes for everyone.
