An organisation which invests time and money into improving the lives of people in Kent, has become Headline Sponsor of the Kent Digital Awards 2015.
Golding Vision’s decision to join forces with the KDA – the first and only scheme to recognise online achievements across the county – is symbolic of its progressive approach and position at the heart of the Kent community.
As a subsidiary of affordable housing firm Golding Homes, Golding Vision, based in Maidstone, supports the company’s mission to build sustainable communities and improve the life opportunities for its residents.
And each year Golding Vision, itself, invests over £400,000 on an innovative programme of community development projects which focus on four key themes Place Shaping, Safer Communities, Health and Wellbeing, and Financial Inclusion.
Their projects include “Get Maidstone Working” – a joint initiative with Jobcentre Plus and Maidstone Borough Council to help Maidstone’s unemployed get into work.
Golding Vision also invested in the “We Love Water Programme”, a project for schools in collaboration with Wellbeing People and the Hazlitt Theatre to teach children to stay healthy by drinking more water.
Other initiatives involve sponsoring Maidstone United Football Club’s Under 18 team and working with the club on projects to encourage young people to get involved in football.
Golding Vision also offers up to £1,000 to local groups through its Community Chest Grant Fund and has helped the likes East Borough Primary School, Maidstone Rebels Wheelchair Basketball Club and disability support group ‘Hope on Wheels’.
And by teaming up with the Awards, Golding Vision is hoping to find a partner within the digital marketing or IT industries, which can work alongside them to improve the life chances of people through a new digital skills learning programme.
Caroline McBride, Head of Community Development at Golding Homes, said: “We’re excited at the potential that digital skills can bring to communities and individuals, and to see the very best work the county can offer.
“We’re keen to find out who is able push the boundaries of technology and it’s uses. We want to work with local communities to explore IT, and are looking for like-minded partners to journey with us.”
As Headline Sponsor Golding Vision will be presenting the “Website” award at the Kent Digital Awards Winners’ Evening on June 18, at Village Urban Resort, Maidstone.
They will also be publicised heavily at the venue, on the Awards website, and within press coverage from the KDA media partner the Kent & Sussex Courier.
Iain Johnson, from Premio64, the organisation behind the Kent Digital Awards revealed he is “absolutely thrilled” to be working with Golding Vision and their parent organisation, Golding Homes.
He added: “It gives us great pleasure and immense pride to be working with an organisation that does so much good within the Kent community.
“There is a great opportunity now for a company within the digital marketing or IT industries in Kent to team up with Golding Vision to contribute to this great work and make a difference to peoples’ lives.”
Parent organisation Golding Homes was established in 2004 and has since invested more than £100m into regenerating affordable homes and estates for around 20,000 residents in the areas of Maidstone, Tonbridge, Ashford and Malling.
Through launching Golding Vision they are achieving their mission to demonstrate that Golding Homes is about more than “bricks and mortar”, and recognises its responsibility to invest in its local communities.
Golding Vision has developed a network of partners whom they work with on a range of projects. This has enabled them to make the most of resources locally, develop highly successful community projects and see tangible improvements for residents.
Golding Vision is always keen to hear from local partners who would like to work with them on key community development projects.
