Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership, one of 39 across the country tasked by the Government to drive economic growth, is supporting the Hertfordshire Digital Awards.
Hertfordshire LEP has been named as “Key Supporter” of the Awards which was set up to recognise the online achievements of businesses, schools and charities from across the county.
Formed in 2010, Hertfordshire LEP brings together businesses, the public sector, education providers, voluntary organisations and social enterprises to tackle key barriers to growth.
Through its Strategic Economic Plan, Hertfordshire LEP has secured £221.5m in its Growth Deal from Government with a further £60m of EU funds for investment into Hertfordshire projects.By 2021, the Growth Deal is set to deliver at least 15,000 new jobs, allow 20,000 homes to be built and leverage £430m public and private sector investment.
As well as a proven track record in securing significant investment for the county, their role is to develop a long-term vision for Hertfordshire’s economy, co-ordinate the relationships and networks that are needed for partnership working to flourish and be a strong voice on behalf of businesses and communities in Hertfordshire both within Government and the EU.
Hertfordshire LEP joins the Hertfordshire Mercury, which signed up as media partner for the Awards last autumn.
The Hertfordshire Digital Awards is the first and only scheme solely to recognise the online work of businesses, charities and schools from across the county.
Paul Witcombe, Enterprise and Innovation Manager for Hertfordshire LEP, said: “We are delighted to support these awards and encourage the take-up of digital technology which is revolutionsing the way we live, work and do business.”
Andy Pritchard, from Premio64, the organisation behind HDA, believes the involvement of Hertfordshire LEP is a “huge stride forward” for the Awards.
He added: “The Hertfordshire Mercury is already throwing their significant might behind the HDA and to have the LEP on board is a major coup.
“They command huge respect as an organisation that is leading and developing business economic growth across Hertfordshire.”
Entry to the Awards is free and takes less than two minutes to complete through www.hertsdigitalawards.co.uk.
Entry for the HDA is due close on July 17 and the Winners’ Evening will be held on September 24, 2015, at the Holiday Inn, Stevenage.
