Milton Keynes Council has signed up as “Key Supporter” for the borough’s first ever dedicated Digital Awards.
The council’s Economic Development: Invest MK team joins the MK Digital Awards, the only scheme in the area to recognise the online achievements of businesses, schools and charities.
Invest MK has gone from strength to strength since it became part of the Council in 2012, continuing to drive economic growth in the borough.
It is the first point of enquiry for existing Milton Keynes businesses looking to expand, for companies planning to relocate to Milton Keynes, or for new companies planning to set up here.
Cllr Matt Clifton, the Cabinet member responsible for Economic Development, Inward Investment and skills, said: “I’m delighted that we’ll be showcasing the digital strengths of Milton Keynes companies.
“We know there’s some innovative and exciting work going on within the city, which is a brilliant fit for our ‘smart city’ aspirations. Good luck to everyone entering the awards.”
Iain Johnson, from Premio64, the organisation behind the Awards, revealed that he is “proud and excited” to be working with Milton Keynes Council.
He added: “The response from businesses to the first MK Digital Awards has been sensational and we’re extremely pleased to welcome the Council into the fold, which really underpins the credibility of the scheme.”
Heart Four Counties – the radio station which broadcasts into Milton Keynes has signed up as ‘Broadcast Media Partner’ for the Awards.
Entry closed for the inaugural event on Friday (September 18) with hundreds of entrants vying for Awards across 12 categories.
The finalists will be announced in early October and an independent panel of judges from organisations such as Sky Sports and Maserati will decide the winners.
The Presentation Evening will be held at Cranfield University on December 3, 2015.
The Digital Awards is the first and only scheme in the area to recognise the online achievements of businesses, schools and charities.”
