KENT: KDA16 – The Results

THE online achievements of businesses, charities and schools across Kent have been celebrated at the second Kent Digital Awards.

Accolades across 16 categories including “Website”, “Mobile App” and “Use of Social Media for Business” were presented to deserving organisations at the Motorsport Vision Centre, Brands Hatch, on June 23.

Compering the event was former BBC broadcaster Robin Bailey who presented Gold, Silver and Bronze prizes to a host of worthy winners.

Special guests included Conrad Murray, from the headline sponsor Nero Blanco, Gillian Forsyth of West Kent Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Councillor Roderick Hogarth of Sevenoaks District Council who all presented Awards.

The Kent Digital Awards was set up in 2015 solely to showcase online work.

Maidstone-based digital agency, Pillory Barn scooped Gold in the flagship “Website” category for their work on AshfordFor.com, a promotional site for the Ashford district.

Tunbridge Wells company, ifour, tasted triple-victory after winning Gold in “Blog: Business”, “Website: B2B”, for Lumina Energy, and “Website: Marketing & Creative” for TEDx Royal Tunbridge Wells, a speaker’s forum.

Ether Creative, in Maidstone, landed the top Awards in the “Website: Tourism & Hospitality” classification for its Hop Farm website design and in the “Mobile App” section for Country Eye a system for reporting suspicious behaviour, incidents or concerns in Kent.

In “Blog:Entertainment”, the plaudits went to Ecce Media for their blog on behalf of H2Open Magazine and the Gold award in “Website: Lifestyle & Culture” went to interiors retailer Skinners of Tunbridge Wells by MC+Co Marketing.

Other winners included adventure park Diggerland, in Strood, in “Use of Social Media for Business” and BritPong by Breakthrough Funding in the “Use of Video for Business” category.

BritPong by Breakthrough Funding, a site to promote the Beer Pong craze in the UK also landed Gold in “Website: Sports & Entertainment”.

KDA16 was headline sponsored by IT firm Nero Blanco and backed by the Courier, Kent County Council, West Kent Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Sleeping Giant Media and Sevenoaks District Council.

Also victorious were DS-Virgin Racing by Zest in “Responsive Website”, Demelza Hospice Care for Children in “Website: School, Education or Charity” and Matthew Page Photography by Dan Gorham Creative Design for “Website: Small Business”.

The “Online Retailer” category Gold was won by Childrensalon, a purveyor of infant clothing, from Tunbridge Wells.

There was also a ‘Spirit of Kent’ award which was handed to Leeds Castle, near Maidstone, who were commended for ‘going above and beyond the call of duty for the betterment and promotion of Kent’ through their digital work.

KENT: Entry For KDA16 Now Open!

Entry has opened for the Kent Digital Awards 2016, celebrated by the launch of a brand new category.

KDA16 – the first and only scheme of its kind within the county – is now in its second year, following its staggering success since setting up in 2014.

And for the first time Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards will be presented for a “Website: B2B” category at the Winners’ Evening next June.

The new website classification – for companies thriving in the business-to-business sector – will take its place alongside 15 other categories in a new look line-up.

There are now a total of nine website categories as well as “Use of Video for Business”, “Use of Social Media for Business”, “Mobile App” and “Spirit of Kent”.

KDA16 will also see the return of the immensely popular “Blog” awards for “Entertainment” and “Business”.

The “Online Business” category has been renamed “Online Retailer” to offer greater clarity to entrants.

An independent judging panel, made up of digital experts, the media, sponsors and executives from a number of internationally recognised businesses including Sky Sports will decide the winners.

The Kent Digital Awards was set-up to promote and recognise the online achievements of businesses, charities and schools from across the county.

Andy Pritchard, from Premio64, the team behind the Awards, is looking to build on the “tremendous success” of the first year.

He added: “We received an extraordinary number of entries into the 2015 scheme and the Presentation Evening was a fantastic celebration of some very impressive digital work from across the ‘Garden of England’.

“It is proven, through the popularity of the Awards and our partnership with the Kent and Sussex Courier, that winning a Kent Digital Award is a sought after accolade and we urge everyone to find our website and make an entry.

“We expect 2016 to be even bigger and better and we cannot wait to show off some more of Kent’s great businesses, charities and schools.”

Kent and Sussex Courier, as media partner, will be giving rolling press coverage for the scheme.

West Kent Chamber of Commerce & Industry will be “Key Supporter” for the scheme once again.

Sponsors of the scheme include Sleeping Giant Media, Capricorn Media, Noise PR and designsixtyfour.com

Entry is free and takes less than two minutes to complete through www.kentdigitalawards.co.uk/enter

The presentation evening will take place in June 2016.

The closing date for entries is 15 April, 2016.

KENT: Just 1 Week Until The Kent Digital Awards

We are now just days away from discovering which businesses, schools and charities from across the county are be decorated at the Kent Digital Awards.

On June 18, a sold-out event at the Village Urban Resort, Maidstone, will witness the presentation of Gold, Silver & Bronze Awards in 15 categories including the flagship award for “Website”.

The ‘Spirit of Kent’ Award – for an organisation that has used digital technology for the good of county – will also be handed to one deserving winner.

Awards will be presented by executives from some great organisations including our Headline Sponsor Golding Vision (part of Golding Homes), Associate Sponsor Hobbs Parker Group, West Kent Chamber of Commerce & Industry, the Kent & Sussex Courier and the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

The event is also supported by Sleeping Giant Media, Capricorn Media, designsixtyfour.com and Noise PR.

TV actor and stand-up comic James Redmond will be performing a side-splitting comedy routine and veteran broadcaster Robin Bailey will be on stage to ensure the event will be a night to remember.

The KDA judges have been blown away by the quantity and quality of entries and whoever picks up the Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards on the night will certainly be richly deserved holders of a Kent Digital Award.

See you on next week.

The KDA 2015 Team.

KENT: Kent Chamber Backs Digital Awards

AN organisation which has been at the heart of business for more than 150 years has given its backing to the Kent Digital Awards.

West Kent Chamber of Commerce & Industry, which was founded in 1858 as a “Tradesmens Association”, has signed up to become “Key Supporter” for the inaugural competition, which is also backed by the Kent & Sussex Courier.

The association is based in Tonbridge and is the leading support organisation for business in the area bounded by Sevenoaks, Edenbridge, Westerham, Tonbridge, Hadlow, Paddock Wood, Cranbrook, Staplehurst, Hawkhurst, Tunbridge Wells.

Chief Executive at WKCCI, Jackie Matthias, revealed she is “extremely pleased” to get behind the KDAs, which is the first and only awards scheme to recognise the online achievements of businesses, schools and charities from across the county.

She added: “Through a number of guises we have been supporting businesses in the west of the county for the past 157 years, but that doesn’t preclude us from acting very much in the here and now.

“We live in a digital world and backing the Kent Digital Awards is a sign of our commitment to embracing the modern marketplace.

“We are very proud of our county and expect the standard of entries for the Awards to be extremely high.”

The Independent KDA judging panel will reward businesses, schools and charities who are demonstrating outstanding work online and not necessarily because they have the greatest resources at their disposal.

Andy Pritchard from Premio64, the organisation behind the awards, believes the alliance with West Kent Chamber of Commerce & Industry gives the KDA a “significant” footprint within the county’s business community.

He added: “We are thrilled to receive backing from such a highly respected organisation and look forward to working hand-in-hand on a mission to drive the county’s digital business forward.”

The KDA categories including “Website”, “Mobile App”, “Responsive Website”, “Online Marketing Campaign”, “School, Education or Charity Website”, “Use of Social Media for Business”, “Use of Video for Business”, “Online Business”, “Blog” and “Small Business Website”.

The Winners’ Evening will take place at the Village Urban Resort, Maidstone, on June 18, 2015.
